Friends of the Tarn will be organising the following events at the Tarn:
RSPB BIG Garden Birdwatch – Sunday 26 January 2020 – 1.30pm to 3.00pm
Come and join us in the beautiful Tarn to watch and count our wildlife visitors. You can be part in the world’s largest wildlife survey. You can, of course, come and just enjoy the wonderful atmosphere too!
Remember, it doesn’t matter if you see a lot of birds, or none at all (very unlikely!). Over 40 years of data from ‘citizen scientists’ like you has told the RSPB what is happening to numbers of birds; from blackbirds to house sparrows and starlings to dunnocks. We will provide you with identification sheets to make counting easy to record and there will be colouring sheets for little ones. For every sheet returned to us, there will be a small reward.
We’re delighted a local amateur ornithologist (that’s a keen bird watcher to you and me) will be on hand to act as a guide.
Don’t forget your binoculars, if you have them. Please dress warmly (lots of layers), hats, scarves and gloves.
Of course there will be our usual delicious cakes, all homemade along with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and squash, all for a small donation.
Our events are suitable for all ages and are run entirely by volunteers. Donations generously received at events are put towards improvements to The Tarn.
